General Description
History |
Local Government Programme was established within İzmir Vocational School in 1982 and is located in Buca Education Faculty Campus. It offers a period of two years of education after high school. Programme is structured as to provide both formal and evening education. It has quota of 120 students per year (60 for formal education and 60 for evening education).Students are selected among graduates of related vocational schools without any exam and also among the students who took the Transition to Higher Education Examination (YGS) conducted by the Student Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM) according to their scores. |

Qualification Requirements and Regulations |
The students must complete 2 years of study acquiring 120 (ECTS) credits. This degree is awarded to students who have successfully completed all courses in the curriculum, compulsory 30 days of internship and have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.00/4.00 and no failing grades. |
Profile of the Programme |
Local Government Program is conducted with a constantly renewed program and a contemporary education and training. After the training, the students are expected to have some abilities like, being effective, efficient, creative, having ability to analyze, being capable of transmitting information from theory to implementation. The main purpose of Local Government Program is to provide well educated personel to the local governments who are supposed to work more efficiently and effectively. Graduates of the program have the opportunity to transfer to undergraduate programs of related fields and get a fouryear bachelors degree. Vertical transfer is possible upon success in Vertical Transfer Examination (DGS) conducted by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). |

The alumnies of the program can work at central and local administration units (like municipalities, Special Provincial Administrations, governorship, district governorship), the other public instutions and organizations. Students have to accomplish 30 working days vocational traning in local government units. |

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading |
Evaluation and assessment methods for each course are described in the Course Syllabus Form which is prepared by the lecturers of the course. Issues related to exams and grades are governed by DEU Regulations and Bylaw on Associates and Bachelors Degree Education and Examination and İzmir Vocational School Education and Examination Principles. |
Graduation Requirements |
Students are required to complete the courses designated for the program successfully without any failing grades that are FF and FD. In order to graduate, students must complete 120 ECTS, and reach a minimum CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) value of at least 2.00 on a 4.00 scale. Students are also required to participate in a 30 days of internship in appropriate organizations. |
