General Description

History

Laboratory Animal Science is a multidisciplinary department established with the approval of The Council of Higher Education in 2003 within the DEU Health Science Institute. Medical faculty members from basic sciences (Microbiology, Biochemistry, Histology and Embryology) and clinical sciences (Anesthesiology and Reanimation) are involved in our department. Master Degree Program of Laboratory Animal Science was started education in 2004. The duration of the program is totally 4 semesters as 2 semesters for lessons and 2 semesters for the thesis. The language of the program is Turkish. In 2004, the Department of Laboratory Animal Science was approved by YÖK and was established as a multidisciplinary department within the Institute of Health Sciences of Dokuz Eylül University. In 2004, the graduate program was opened. Doctorate education started in 2012. It is the first department in our country to start postgraduate education (master's and phd) in this field.
