General Description

History

Department of Oncology Nursing, Dokuz Eylul University Faculty of Nursing was established in 1999 with the approval of Higher Education, a multidisciplinary department. Our department of nursing and medical school (U.S. Hematology, Medical Oncology, USA, Pediatric Oncology, USA) faculty members of the is located. Oncology Nursing Masters Program in 2002 and started training. Program duration is 2 years (1 year is course, 1 Year is thesis study) . Program language is Turkish.

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

According to the Regulations of Dokuz Eylül University for Graduate Schools, students are not connected to the right for internal transfer, previously taken courses at another graduate programme by another university with a successful grade may be recognized by the related programmes after the letter of the students includes course contents and the transcript, and by the recommendation of the head of the departments and by the decision of the Board of Directors. The courses taken by the outgoing Exchange students have the recognition at the school either as compulsory or elective.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

Second Cycle (Masters Degree) Programme with thesis is comprised of courses (at least 54 ECTS), a seminar (2 ECTS), and field study (4 ECTS) and thesis (60 ECTS) credits. İn total 120 ECTS credits. Students must have minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.50/4.00 and completed all the courses with at least CB / S / TP grades.

Profile of the Programme

Oncology Nursing Masters Program in 2002 and started training. The aim of this program is the mechanism of cancer occurrence, etiology, incidence of cancer in the world and in our country, the methods of prevention and early detection of cancer, the most common cancers in our country, the pathogenesis, symptoms finding and treatment, the death process, communication with cancer and their families, psychosocial problems experienced by cancer and their families to know, to plan nursing interventions, and to follow scientific developments in the field of research in the field is to have the knowledge and skills. The program of each semester, a with core courses include elective courses in different areas of science in nursing. Students may take courses from different programs and university.

1   Depending on nursing undergraduate competences, having the current knowledge so as to be able to fulfill nurse role and functions in oncology nursing area
2   Having the knowledge of concept and models that form basis for oncology nursing
3   Comprehending the importance of inter-disciplines interactions that oncology nursing is related to.
4   Using conceptual and practical information that is acquired in an expert level in oncology nursing area
5   Using knowledge in patient and family care by uniting it the knowledge coming from different disciplines and the acquired knowledge in oncology nursing area.
6   Solving the specialistic problems about oncology nursing area by using research methods
7   Offering suggestions for the solution of complicated problems encountered at oncology nursing area, practicing and assessing them
8   Taking the lead in environments requiring the solution of the problems about oncology nursing
9   Conducting a specialistic study about oncology nursing by taking counseling
10   Assessing specialistic knowledge and skill that the student has in oncology nursing area critically.
11   Sharing the current affairs in public health area as written, verbal and visual systematically to group in/out his/her own study area
12   Making cooperation with national and international colleagues with language and technology proficiency
13   Observing law, regulation and legislations about oncology nursing area
14   Acting as appropriate to the occupational ethical principles and values about oncology nursing area
15   Applying occupational development and life-long learning principles in the studies about oncology nursing
