: Civil Aviation Transportation Management

General Description

History

Civil Aviation Transportation Management program provides education for short chicle (associate's degree ) in Efes Vocational School since 2017-2018 education year. The students are selected among graduated students of high scholls and related high schools with the Basic Proficiency Test (TYT) conducted by the Student Selection and Placement Centre (ÖSYM) according to their scores.

Vocational high school diploma or high school diploma, placement through a nation-wide Student Selection Examination.

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

Transfer Students:
The transfer student candidates from Turkish or foreign universities are subject to the YOK Legislation "The transfer, double degree, minor degree and inter-institutional credit transfer" and to the evaluation conditions determined by Dokuz Eylul University Senate.
The transfer quotas are determined and announced by Turkish Higher Education Council (YOK). The evaluation of the candidates are done by the school evaluation commmisin and approved by the management

The Graduate Transfers:
The short cycle graduates are given the right to be admitted to the first cycle programs if they comply with the conditions set by the "The transfer of Short Cycle Program Graduates to First Cycle Programs" Legilation of Turkish Higher Education Council (YOK)
The universities inform YOK regarding the quotas and YOK announces the quotas and conditions in "Graduate Transfer Guide" and the placements are managed by YOK due to the results of nationwide graduate transfer exam.

According to the Regulations of Dokuz Eylül University for Graduate Schools, students are not connected to the right for internal transfer, previously taken courses at another graduate programme by another university with a successful grade may be
recognized by the related programmes after the letter of the students includes course contents and the transcript, and by the recommendation of the head of the departments and by the decision of the Board of Directors. The courses taken by the outgoing
Exchange students have the recognition at the school either as compulsory or elective.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

2 years, 2 semesters per year, 16 weeks per semester, 120 ECTS in total.

Profile of the Programme

The aim of The Civil Aviation Management Program is to educate management candidates who have got competences equipped with a foreign language and basic aviation knowledge and are going to work at domestic and international companies in the rapidly developing aviation industry successfully.

Key Learning Outcomes

1   Gains general knowledge about the literature, legal regulations, professional standards, and practices related to the civil aviation sector.
2   Acquires knowledge in airport management, aviation terminology, basic aircraft information and flight safety, as well as ground and passenger services.
3   Uses, analyzes, and ensures the uninterrupted execution of aviation operations by applying theoretical and practical knowledge of airline transportation within the framework of business management solutions.
4   Understands the importance of aviation safety and security, and becomes proficient in the documents and forms used to ensure flight safety and security.
5   Gains knowledge about the fundamental procedures required in the field of civil air transportation management and necessary for an employee in the aviation sector.
6   Learns fundamental topics in business, economics, statistics, logistics, management, and organization.
7   Develops strategic decision-making skills by using analytical thinking to foresee possible outcomes and make accurate predictions.
8   Attains a basic level of knowledge about law, legal concepts, aviation law, and regulations.
9   Gains the necessary knowledge to initiate, sustain, and propose research-based solutions for projects.
10   Acquires a culture of information and communication systems and effectively uses the information technologies required by the field.
11   Communicates knowledge and ideas accurately and effectively, using written and verbal communication techniques that others can understand.
12   Uses at least one foreign language fluently, at a level sufficient to follow fundamental knowledge in the field and communicate with stakeholders.
13   Becomes a professional equipped with social responsibility and ethical awareness, willing to participate in teamwork and capable of working with leadership skills.
14   Recognizes companies where they can work and professions they can pursue. Applies the knowledge gained from theoretical and practical courses and internship experiences comfortably in the sector.
15   Acquires fundamental knowledge about sectors interacting with the aviation industry.
16   Gains the ability to apply theoretical and practical knowledge related to activities strongly interconnected with the aviation sector, both upstream and downstream, in professional life. Understands the importance of lifelong learning and applies the learning skills and competencies developed in this program to other areas of life.

Graduates can work at offiicial instutions in the field of aviation or at private airlines, airports and other aviation companies.

The curriculum of the department consists of compulsory and elective courses. There are elective courses in the fall semester and spring semester in the departmental elective course pool. Our students have to do internships in order to graduate.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

Evaluation methods for every course are defined in the course syllabus form prepared by the relevant teaching staff and provided in the Information Package. The related articles of the
Regulation of Dokuz Eylul University on Education and Examination in Associate's and Bachelor's Degrees and Implemetation Fundamentals of Education and Examination in Efes Vocational School are implemented for examinations and course pass marks.

Graduation Requirements

The student must complete 2 years of study acquiring 120 (ECTS) credits. This degree is awarded to students who have successfully completed all theoretical courses and applied courses in the curriculum and 40 working days of practical training. According to the Article 33 of Regulation of Dokuz Eylul University on education and examination in Associate's and Bachelor's Degrees, the student should have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average of 2.00 on a 4.00 scale and also have got no failing grades in order to complete the education successfully and attain a diploma.
