Course Objective

It is aimed to provide the student with the theoretical and practical knowledge of the basic principles of labor law and the resolution of individual and collective labor disputes. To introduce the basic concepts and institutions of Social Security Law, to explain the rights of the insured arising from occupational accidents and occupational diseases, disability, old age and death insurances and the obligations of employers in accordance with the relevant legislation.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   1. Will be able to explain the basic concepts and sources of labor law.
2   2. Will be able to explain the conclusion, content, termination and the consequences of the termination of the labor contract.
3   3. Will be able to explain the concept of social security and its basic features.
4   4. Will be able to analyze Turkish social security practices. List and explain the activities of trade unions.
5   5. Will be able to explain collective labor relations, strike and lockout concepts.

3 Types of employment contract and establishment of the contract; obligations of the employee and the employer
4 Termination of the employment contract with/without termination and its consequences
5 The concept and importance of trade unions, trade union organs and activities
6 Collective bargaining
7 collective labor disputes and solutions
8 Mid Term Exam
9 The emergence and development of the concept of social security, social security systems
10 Scope, commencement and termination of social insurance
11 Financing of social and health insurance
12 Short-term insurance in the social security system
13 Long-term insurance in the social security system
14 Special cases in the social security system, regulations on private insurance
