Course Objective

By teaching the concepts of manager, management, management process, to gain the competence to achieve management and organization and basic business functions required to achieve business objectives.

2 Management and Organization Theories-I Classical school, who is Taylor , his life and works, basic principles, scientific approach, Fayol and organization, basic management activities and principles.
3 Management and Organization Theories-II Who is Gantt , Gantt chart, Weber, bureaucracy theory, human relations approach, Elton Mayo, Hawthorne experiments, results of experiments, Behavioral Approach, Freud, Maslow, Barnard, McClelland, Systems Approach.
4 Management and Organization Theories-III Bernard, Homans and Selznick, open system and types of systems, characteristics of open system, Contingency Approach, Chandler, Lawrence & Rosch, Woodward, management functions, planning.

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

1.Midterm Exam: Mid-term exam covers the topics examined in the course and weekly assignments (40%).
2.Final Exam: Final exam covers all subjects in the course content. Students are also responsible for the discussion, practice and case studies (60%).

Assessment Criteria

Exam papers will be evaluated regarding the level of understanding, as well as defining the causality between the basic concepts and issues of the lecture, ability of giving examples and analytical thought, and using relevant terminology.
