Course Objective

The aim of this course is to explain the crucial role played by tour operators and travel agencies in attracting tourists by offering suitable tour packages, to teach the methods to be followed in creating and pricing an effective tour package, and to share best practices for organizing successful tour packages in national and international tourism markets.

1   To know the historical development and current state of the travel agencies and tour operators in Türkiye and in the world
2   Understand legal and regulatory frameworks in tourism
3   Define key concepts and components of tour planning
4   Analyze market trends and customer preferences
5   Create detailed tour itineraries with transportation, accommodation, and activities

4 Receptive and Incentive Tour Operations Similarities and difference in local sightseeing for domestic and international operations Types of functions, groups handled and services provided
5 People and Situational Handling Why people go on tours the motivators for leisure and recreation Satisfiers and dis-satisfiers in the leisure market

Assessment Criteria

Mid-term Exam: Mid-term exam will be based on assignments and the topics covered in the course (40%).

Final Exam: Final Exam will cover all topics in the course. Students are also responsible for verbal participation, class discussion and case studies. (60%).

It is obligatory to attend at least 70% of the classes. Students are expected to participate in class discussions.
