Course Objective

This course aims to provide students; understand the concept of quality management concepts, total quality management, and the development process, using total quality management tools in tourism enterprises, configuring the quality management system and self- valuation models, evaluate systems and models in terms of quality and economy.

1 The Concept of Quality and New Approaches New experiences in quality and the rise of ecosystems, ecosystem wars and new algorithms.
2 Tourism Ecosystem and Service Quality Concept Evolution of the concept of quality in tourism, new tourism economy and global norms, development and dimensions of total quality management, the concept of quality and factors determining quality.
3 Dimensions of Service Quality and Development of Total Quality Management Definitions related to quality, the concept and characteristics of service, the concept of service quality, the building blocks of service quality, dimensions of service quality, stages in the development of the concept of quality, inspection
4 Inspection, Quality Control, Quality Assurance and Total Quality Management Quality control, quality assurance, functions of quality assurance, total quality management, functions of total quality management, the objectives and principles of total quality management, classical management and quality understanding, total quality management and quality understanding.
5 Quality Gurus and Quality Circles Gurus in total quality management, Deming, Juran, Crosby, Feigenbaum, Ishikawa, Taguchi, quality circles.

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

1.Midterm Exam: Mid-term exam covers the topics examined in the course and weekly assignments (40%).
2.Final Exam: Final exam covers all subjects in the course content. Students are also responsible for the discussion, practice and case studies (60%).

Assessment Criteria

Exam papers will be evaluated regarding the level of understanding, as well as defining the causality between the basic concepts and issues of the lecture, ability of giving examples and analytical thought, and using relevant terminology.
