Course Objective

This course has the aim of teaching the students the theoretical information about and practical usage of front office automation systems .

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To learn the central reservation systems of our day
2   To have the information of automation systems in Türkiye and in the world.
3   To have the knowledge of the automation systems in Türkiye and world and use them for the guests for blocking the reservations.
4   To control the flow of sales at the system.
5   To prepare the necessary reports at the system.

1 Opera PMS public promotion, creating guest profiles General introduction of Opera PMS menus, profile types, guest profile creation
2 Creating different profile types Creation of individual, company and agency profiles
3 Guest Profile options Implementation of options in guest profile: History, future, preferences, Negotiated Rates
4 Reservation Function Creation of new reservation, filling in reservation card
5 Reservation Options Implementation of reservation card options (Message, trace, accompany, share, alert, cancel, reinstate)
6 Reservation Module Update Reservation, Room plan, floor plan, calendar
7 Front Desk Module Arrivals, check-in walkin, in house guests, Cancel C/I (Check in Cancellation), Room Move (Room Change)
8 Housekeeping module Housekeeping Management, preparation of floor report
9 Rooms Management Module Room Discrepancies, Queue Rooms, Out of Order/Service (Usage/Out of Service)

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

1. Midterm Exam: Midterm exam includes subjects and assignments in the course content (40%).
2. Final Exam: The exam will cover all subjects in the course content. Students are also responsible for the discussion, practice and case studies (60%).
3. Resit: The exam will cover all the topics in the course content. Students are also responsible for the discussion, practice and case studies (60%).

Assessment Criteria

Midterm exam and final exam grade make together the end of the term grade.

Course Policies and Rules

Students are required to attend 70% of the lecture classes. Besides, students are required to participate in the class discussions, to prepare their assignments on time and to contribute to the active learning in the classrom.
