Course Objective

Comprehension of the historical process that contributed to the emergence and development of sociology as a science and thus the issues and approaches addressed.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To recognize the social and political philosophies before the birth of sociology
2   To recognize the basic problems in the birth of sociology
3   To comprehend the positivist approach in the birth of sociology
4   To comprehend the sociologists and their theories that contributed to the development of sociology as a science
5   To comprehend the basic theses and works of classical sociologists such as Saint-Simon, Comte, Durkheim, Marx, Weber
6   Understanding the relationship between modernization and sociology
