Course Objective

To teach basketball game rules, basketball history, basketball-specific educational games, fundamental technics of basketball (ball handling, pass, dribble, change-up, footwork, shot, lay up, rebound, defence), basketball-specific ability selection, individual and team defence systems, offence and fast break systems, general tactical information and teaching methods of these informations.

4   To implement and to teach offence and defence as individual-group-team

Course Contents

1 Introduction of basketball, history of basketball, modern basketball today, basketball game rules, knowledge of the court and equipment
2 Ball handling practices
3 Basketball-specific educational games
4 With-without the ball basic stance (triple threat position), low-high dribble
5 Dribble with two balls, stops (one-two step landing, jump-stop), pivot foot and pivoting
6 Change-ups (crossover, behind the back, between the legs, reverse)
7 Cascading of lay up (right-left), lay up over dribble (right-left)
8 Cascading of lay up (right-left), lay up over dribble (right-left)
9 Pass types, cascading of shot, fakes with and without the ball
10 Rebound, combine practices, fast break
11 Player characteristics, position knowledge, principles of ability selection
12 Slide defence, man to man defence with-without the ball, help side-ball side defence, 1 on 1 offence-defence
13 Pass-cut, on-ball pick and roll, 2 on 2 offence-defence, off-ball pick and roll, 3 on 3 and 4 on 4 offence-defence
14 Zone defence types, principles of team offence (man to man and zone), principles of team defence (man to man and zone), 5 on 5 game
