Course Objective |
In this course; the processes from the quarrying of stone in ancient architecture to its placement in monumental structures will be investigated; The technical and workmanship details (slots and types of lifting hooks, dowel slots and types, clamp slots and types, stonemason's tool marks, socket slots and types, placement and planning guide slots and lines, stonemason's marks regarding the order of architectural elements and workshops) will be examined in terms of decision-making bodies, project design, cost, contractors, practitioners (architects, stonemasons), measurement systems, account closure documents and remains of destruction. |
