Course Objective

It s aimed to teach Using plaster while making ceramic and entrance of industrial ceramic by practical and theoretical methods.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To have theoretical and chemical knowledge related to plaster material, its forming and mold making for ceramic.
2   To be capable of designing useful ceramic forms by using designing methods.
3   To be capable of drawing technical draws of their designs.
4   To be capable of producing model, mold, duplication mold with plaster that are use for producing industrial ceramics.
5   To be capable of producing industrial ceramics.
6   To have information about using the equipment regarding the project to realize it.

1 Using plaster during ceramic processing - existence in nature - properties
2 Regularity of a plaster atelier and its equipments -Equipments and necessaries for forming -storing the plaster
3 Preparing and pouring the plaster -isolation of the plaster - percentages of plaster and water
4 Forming measured geometric forms (cube, pyramid, rectangular prism etc.) with plaster
5 Plaster model Making plaster model drawing (technical drawing)
6 Forming the designs by freehand
7 Designing Foot and pouring mouth
8 Molding methods of a plaster model - measuring plaster model with a set square one or more pieces molds
9 Pouring mouth and locking systems (plaster, plastic, etc.)
10 Making the plaster mold of designs
11 Making the plaster mold of designs
12 Making the plaster mold of designs
13 Pouring clay, retouching, bisque and glaze firing

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

Lecturer will guide the students via informing about plaster, its usages, specialties and designing useful forms by using geometric plaster shapes, their technical drawing. Plaster molds of plaster form been making. By these molds a series ceramics are produced.

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

Evaluation will be made from creative designing, technical analyzing and technical drawing, precision in modeling and molding, qualification of theoretical researches and presentation files, and exhibiting of the project. In addition, carefulness of the student on keeping of the workshop and team working performance will be also taken into consideration. The class will be divided into two sessions and student will be responsible for signing in respect of attendance and also will be counted absent along unattended sessions.
