Course Objective

This course aims to enable the student to recognize the methods to be used in systematic review and meta-analysis in nursing, to learn how to formulate a research problem, to determine inclusion and exclusion criteria, to search for evidence, to create a data set, to define the risks of bias in clinical studies, to perform systematic review and meta-analysis.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Ability to define the steps of systematic review and meta-analysis
2   Formulating a question for systematic review and meta-analysis using PICO
3   Identifying and obtaining data from appropriate nursing studies for systematic review and meta-analysis
4   Ability to describe methods to determine the risk of bias in studies
5   Writing according to the steps of systematic review or meta-analysis based on the obtained data
6   Ability to assess the quality of systematic review and meta-analysis studies

Assessment Criteria

In the evaluation of the course, the midterm exam grade will be determined by dividing the total of the midterm exam scores by two. 60% of this grade and 40% of the final exam grade will be used to calculate the course grade.
Course Grade: 60% midterm grade (30% Midterm Exam + 30% Assignment) + 40% final exam grade.
