Course Objective

The main aim of the course is to comprehend the science of history and to learn the process of giving history a field of existence. To gain awareness of the development process of the philosophy of history and the ethical responsibility in this process. Understands history and the historian as a professional discipline.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Learns the beginning of the philosophy of history in Antiquity.
2   Learns how the philosophy of history was affected by the conditions in the Medieval
3   Understands the impact of the Renaissance and Enlightenment on the philosophy of History and the questioning of the role of the Historian.
4   Understands the development process in social sciences and the development of Historiography as a professional field in the 19th century.
5   Understands the responsibility of the historian in the 20th century, the importance of professional competence and ethical responsibility.
