Course Objective

In this course, it is aimed to train psychiatric nurses, who can handle individual, family and society with their biopsychosocial dimensions, combine the knowledge of theories and models aimed at protecting and developing the mental health with practice, take on the responsibility of individuals and families with mental disorders, are sensitive to ethical principles, aware of responsibilities, skilful at problem solving and critical thinking.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   1) Discuss the development of psychiatric nursing, its roles and functions, areas of responsibility, standards, and its status in the world and in our country.
2   2) Understanding the basic concepts, theories and models related to mental health and psychiatric nursing
3   3) Gaining the ability to evaluate the individual, family and society holistically, and to apply biopsychosocial care in line with their needs
4   4) Being able to analyze the current situation in our country, relevant laws & regulations and health policies regarding the protection, development, treatment and rehabilitation of mental health
5   5) Being able to contribute to teamwork by developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills
