Course Objective

To draw a general picture of religious education in reformation period. To examine essential laws giving direction to religious education, before and after the Republic. To clarify how and how much religious teachings take place in schools with the connection of educational politics. To evaluate the discussions in reformation period s religious education

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   They will be able to explain main lines of reformation period s formal religious education and make relations to the school programs
2   They will classify and explain the reformation period s religious education.
3   They will explain the establishing and developing process of religious high schools and theology faculties in history
4   The students will have ability to view that can make connection between the religious educational understandins in Türkiye and socio-cultural process
5   They will analyze the effects of reformation period s religious education politics on current religious teachings

2 General look on religious education in Tanzimat and meshrutiyat (reformation and constitutionalism)
3 Reformation movements in religious education before Republican era.
4 Religious educational institutions and their courses before republican era.
5 In the establishing process of the republic, the effects of educational politics on religious education
6 The law of Tawhid-i Tadrisat, and its importance of and results for religious education.
7 The discussions in the parliament (T.B.M.M) about religious education in earlier years of the republic.
8 Religious education politics in the one party period
9 The transformation process to the multi-party period and religious education politics
10 Religious education in first and second degrees
11 Religious high schools
12 Theology faculties
13 The changes in religious education after 1980
14 Evaluation the process of programme developing in religious education.
