Course Objective |
The course aims to provide comprehensive information and knowledge for students on the recent ideas and approaches on environmental impact assessment works in the coastal zones, with particular emphasis on project planning phase. It covers all dimensions of EIA in terms of ecological , economic, social and political aspects. A special weight will be given to the merits and provisions offered by marine sciences for the efforts of environmental impact assessment. |

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods |
The course is composed of lectures and project preperation. The lectures comprises the most common methods as well as the theories and approaches behind them. The concept of integrated zone management forms the main core of the philosophy of the course. During the term, the students are also responsible to develop an EIA project on a coastal zone with given virtual specifications. The completed projects will be presented to the class for discussion at the end of the term. |
