Course Objective

It is aimed to provide students with the ability to think scientifically and approach architectural problems from a scientific perspective. It is aimed to provide students with knowledge and experience in carrying out studies related to the field of architecture and to familiarize students with the process consisting of problem solving, programming, analysis, synthesis and evaluation stages. This course, which provides the understanding and use of research terminology, aims to integrate the elements of the research process with quantitative, qualitative and mixed scientific method approaches.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Recognizing scientific research concepts and methods, explaining the stages of scientific research
2   To recognize qualitative, quantitative and mixed research methods for conducting research in the field of architecture.
3   To be able to analyze research in the field of architecture
4   Conducting scientific research in the field of architecture, thinking critically and understanding ways to produce knowledge

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

In the preliminary courses, teacher will give information about lessons. Then the students will suggest problems about their subjects and they will make presentations about their subjects.

Defining capability, will be evaluated by the midterm.
Analysing will be evaluated by the homeworks and presentations.
Defining, explaining and analysing will be evaluated by final exam.
