Course Objective

The aim of this course is to investigate the compound classes which have paint property and to provide knowledge about their technological importance and applications, photo-, thermo-and electrochemical reactions of colored compounds, use in data recording and display systems, and their new applications in Biochemistry, biology, medicine, and analytical chemistry.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Classify pigments and dyes
2   Discuss effects of substituents on the absorption and emission spectra of aromatic compounds;
3   Have knowledge about technological importance and application areas of organic dyes and pigments
4   Have knowledge about the synthetic methods of organic dyes and pigments
5   Have knowledge about photo-, thermo-and electrochemical reactions of organic dyes and pigments
