Course Objective

This course aims to address the healthy/sick child and his/her family with a holistic approach by integrating the basic knowledge and principles of child health with the roles and functions of pediatric nursing in line with the philosophy of basic health services, and to develop, protect and sustain the health of the child and his/her family.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   LO 1. Monitoring and evaluating children's vital signs, identifying deviations from normal and sharing with the health team
2   LO 2. Evaluating the child's growth and development characteristics (physiological, mental, psychosocial) according to the period characteristics, identifying deviations from normal and sharing with the health team
3   LO 3. Performing an age-appropriate physical examination, evaluating, identifying deviations from normal and sharing with the health team
4   LO 4. Knowing, evaluating fluid electrolyte balance, identifying deviations from normal and sharing with the health team
5   LO 5. Meeting the patient's care needs (data collection, data analysis, outcome criteria, diagnosis, intervention, evaluation)
6   LO 6. Interpreting the patient's medication order
7   LO 7. Determining and meeting the needs for developing, maintaining and protecting the health of the child and family

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

The intra-semester grade shall be calculate by taking 50% of the average midterm grade
of the student and 50% of the application grade. The semester grade shall be calculated
by taking 50% of the intra-semester grade and will 50% of the final grade.
Semester Grade: 50% intra-semester grade (50% of 1st Midterm Exam + 50% application) +
50% final grade
