Course Objective

The course examines the shifting techniques of architectural drawing from antiquity until today. It discusses the position of the architect, the changing role of drawing, design methods, representation techniques, and the effects of drawing techniques on architecture in different eras. On completion of this course, the student will be able to be familiar with the literature on the topic and understand that architectural drawing is not only a technical phenomenon, but also a cultural issue. The course mainly focuses on the architectural productions of the Western culture.

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

1. During online education format, mid-term and final exam may be given as homework/assignment.
2. In written assignments, students are obliged to give credit for all sentences that they cite. Plagiarism is not allowed.
3. If they need to refer to online sources, they are not allowed to use blogs and anonymous websites; they can only use official web sites and scholarly e-journals as references.

1. It is highly recommended to have attended the courses MIM 3732 Renaissance Architecture and MIM 3811 History of Modern Architecture.
2. It is not considered as a valid excuse to be absent in class for late submissions of assignments.
3. Late submissions will be subject to a different evaluation.
4. All kinds of plagiarism will result in a disciplinary action.
