Course Objective

The aim of this course is to give information about the development of Turkish educational thought and institutional structure by outlining the history of Turkish education. To ensure that students have knowledge about the general appearance of pre-Islamic Turkish education, to help them evaluate the change in Turkish educational thought with Islam. To establish the relationship with today's education by dealing with the main lines of educational views, problems and institutions that emerged in the history of Turkish education.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Students will be able to analyze the major periods during the history of Turkish education and define them within the framework of historical knowledge. Students can analyze the Turkish education system in comparison with the western education system while making these definitions.
2   They will have knowledge about the major periods of Turkish education history, explain the Turkish educational thought and institutionalization process, have knowledge about the structure and functioning of the Turkish national education system.
3   They will be able to know the sub-systems of education, their purpose and function.
4   They will be able to analyze the basic problems related to education.
5   They will be able to uses the scientific method in diagnosing and solving problems related to education. They will be able to develop suggestions for solving problems related to education.
