Course Objective

The course aims to examine the acceptance of Archeology as a branch of science and the changing processes of the perception of the past, step by step in the historical process, long before the emergence of the concept of Archeology. In this process, the emergence, formation, development and change of this field based on material culture will be examined.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Our students, who will receive the title of Archaeologist after graduation, get to know the history of their field of science.
2   To be able to understand the development of the concept of archeology before its use.
3   Understanding the concept of Archeology in the Roman period and Recognizing collective memory, past and material culture antiquarianism in the Middle Ages.
4   Understanding the development of Archeology in our country.
