Course Objective

The aim of this course is to grasp the principles of treatment, diagnosis and preventive measures in nervous system diseases and mental disorders that emerge in childhood and adolescence.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Perform a complete neurological examination
2   Explain the etiopathogenesis, perform the physical examination, interpret the results of diagnostic tests, discuss differential diagnosis and diagnosis and explain the principles of treatment in stroke.
3   Explain the etiopathogenesis, perform the physical examination, interpret the results of diagnostic tests, discuss differential diagnosis and diagnosis and explain the principles of treatment in peripheral neural disorders
4   Explain the etiopathogenesis, perform the physical examination, interpret the results of diagnostic tests, discuss differential diagnosis and diagnosis and explain the principles of treatment in vertigo and headache
5   Classify epilepsy and epileptic syndromes, explain clinical picture, discuss the drugs used, plan emergency treatment
6   Discuss differential diagnosis and diagnosis and explain the principles of treatment in frequently seen neurological disorders (Demantia, Movement Disorders, Motor Neuron Disorders, Sleep disorders, neuromuscular disorders, nöromuscular junction disorders and Multiple Sclerosis)
7   Define principles of psychiatric examination
8   Explain the etiopathogenesis, epidemiology, define clinical characteristics, discuss differential diagnosis, plan pharmacological treatment, define psychotherapy in mood disorders, anxiety disorders and reality distortion disorders
9   Develop an appropriate cooperation with the relatives of a patient with a psychiatric disorder
10   Define principles of psychiatric evaluation of child and adolescents and develop an appropriate communication with the child, adolescent and his/her family
11   Discuss differential diagnosis and diagnosis and explain the principles of treatment of psychiatric diseases frequently encountered in childhood and adolescence (Attention and Hyperactivity disorder, Communication Disorder, Anxiety disorder and nöropsychiatric problems)

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

The student's end of block grade:
25% of the end of task process evaluation grade average,
25% of the NÖKS grade,
0% of the interim achievement assessment,
50% of the theoretical exam grade
is calculated out of 100 (one hundred).

Assessment Criteria

In order for students to take the exam:
To have attended at least 70% of the theoretical activities,
It is necessary to have participated in at least 80% of the block applications and / or laboratory studies.
The application, laboratory and similar in-year studies related to the block must be done within the given periods.
Students who have not fulfilled all of these conditions must repeat that block or internship.

In order for the student's exam results to be valid:
In the end-of-task process evaluation, 60 (sixty) and above grades must be obtained from at least 70% of the number of tasks in the relevant block. Otherwise, the block is repeated.
In order to calculate the end of block grade; The average of the end of task evaluation must be 60 (sixty), and each of the NÖKS and theoretical evaluation grades must be at least 55 (fifty-five).
To be successful in the block, the block success grade must be at least 60 (sixty).
