Course Objective

The objective of this course is to provide students with an understanding of the pathophysiology of inflammatory, degenerative, vascular, and mechanical diseases of the gastrointestinal system (GIS), as well as to equip them with knowledge of the internal medicine and surgical approaches to these conditions. Furthermore, students will gain an understanding of the fundamental aetiologies of infectious diseases, including their diagnostic and differential diagnostic processes, and will be able to apply the principles of current treatment strategies. By the end of the course, students will be able to explain the aetiology of GIS diseases, distinguish between relevant diagnostic and therapeutic approaches, perform differential diagnoses for infectious diseases, and apply the principles of their treatment, thus achieving the necessary level of knowledge and skill.

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

In all semesters, students are evaluated on a scale of 100 points, with a passing grade of 50 or above. A grade of 60 (sixty) is considered to be the minimum passing grade.
The success evaluation score for Phase 4 is calculated based on the proportions of the following examinations:
The theoretical exam constitutes 50% of the final grade, while the OSCE and task end process each account for 25%. In the case of exams based on the average of Phase IV and V, the final grade will be calculated as 60 (sixty) points for the end-of-task assessment and at least 55 (fifty-five) points for the end-of-block assessment. The minimum passing grade for the block is 60 (sixty), provided that the requisite conditions are met. OSCE and theoretical evaluation
Each grade must attain a minimum of 55 out of 100

Assessment Criteria

In all semesters, success grades are evaluated out of 100 (one hundred) full points. The term passing score is determined as 60 (sixty).
