Course Objective

Provides knowledge on morphology, physiology, biochemistry, development cycles, ecology, geography, distribution and position of parasitic worms in zoological systems, diseases caused by them in humans, animals and plants, as well as clinical signs, pathogenesis, Epidemiology and epizootology of helminths, their diagnosis, treatment and prevention measures.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To characterize the structure of helminths, their classification, characteristic features of their vital activity,
2   Diseases caused by helminths, their spread, variety, measures to combat them, prevention ;
3   To determine their systematic state by visually recognizing representatives of helminths in the natural environment;
4   Measures to combat helminths and preventive work carried out.
5   Mastering the measures carried out by the state and the population to protect against helminths

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 Goals and objectives of helminthological science. Departments of helminthological science.
2 Diseases caused by helminths in vertebrates. The effect of helminths on the body of the owner.
3 Diseases caused by helminths in vertebrates. The effect of helminths on the body of the owner.
4 Features of reproduction, development and ecology of platelmintes. Classification of platelmintes. Nuance classes and detachment.
5 Morphological features of the class of digenetic suckers (digestive, excretory, nervous system, sexual organs sisitemia, reproduction and development).The main representatives of the class of digenetic suckers. Cat sucker and blood sucker.
6 Structure of the class of monogenetic suckeri (digestive, excretory, nervous system, sexual organs cicitemia, reproduction and development). and representatives.
7 Morphological characteristics ( excretory, nervous system, sexual organs cicitemia, reproduction and development) and classification of cestoideas. Tapeworms parasitizing in vertebrates (structure and development of the Ox solitaire - Taeniarhynchus saginatus and the pig solitaire - Taenia solium).

9 Nemathelminthes type (general dryness and development of nematodes).
10 Nematodes parasitizing in vertebrates are the human ascaridi - Ascaris lumbricoidea
11 ascaridi - Ascaris lumbricoidea, the horse ascaridi - Parascaris eguorum, the bristle or bristle worm - Trichocephalus trichiurus, the spiral-shaped trichin-Trichinella spiralis structure and development.
12 The tail worm-Enterobius vermicularis, the duodenum curvilinear worm - Ankylostoma duodenale, the bankroft thread worm - Wuchereria bancrofti, the onchocerclerin, the rishta worm - Dracunculus medinensis and the development of worms of plant nematodes.
13 Annular worms-common characteristic signs and important representatives of the annelida type.
14 Bunch of Jawed leeches. The structure of the medicine Leech. Use of leeches in medicine.
