Course Objective

Learning the development of citizen identity in Türkiye during the late Ottoman period and the Republican period.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   The Students Who Join Reading, Debating activities and Doing Their Homework of This Lesson
2   1. Explain the historical development of the concept of citizenship,
3   2. To be able to comprehend the process of constructing citizen identity according to the understanding of the nation state,
4   3. To be able to comprehend the impact of the modernization movement on identity construction in Türkiye,
5   4. To be able to understand the modern understanding of citizenship and different approaches to citizenship,
6   5. They are expected to be able to comprehend the impact of social studies education in Türkiye on the development of modern citizenship understanding, to contribute to social studies education and to produce solutions to problems in this field.
