Course Objective

Starting from 19th century Modernist art theory, Manifestos, Avant-garde art movements and Post modernism, new media and Hybrid Art. In addition, it is among the main objectives of the course to gain the competence of comprehending, analysing, synthesising and interpreting the formal / intellectual features by considering this historical process within the simultaneous change / transformation with socio-economic and political history.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Has theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of History of Painting.
2   Uses Painting / Art History knowledge in related fields.
3   Continuously improves professional knowledge and skills in the field.
4   Organizes and contributes to cultural and artistic activities.
5   Recognizes the periods, movements, artists and the subject, theme, style, technique and material characteristics of a work of art.
6   Has ethical values in the observation and protection of common cultural artifacts.
7   By evaluating and analyzing their achievements in the course, they develop these skills in individual working practices and use them to reach original styles and creations.

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 To be able to have and use the theoretical and applied knowledge that is the subject of student plastic arts education.
2 To be able to have and use knowledge, skills and creativity in the production of works in accordance with contemporary art practices.
3 To have the practical skills needed to visualize observations and thoughts, and the ability to transform materials and ideas
4 To have sufficient knowledge and systematic working practice to choose appropriate techniques and correct methods in the projected subject areas.
5 To have the ability to adopt and develop visual language and expression characteristics in the process of individuation.
6 The original art approach; To have knowledge and equipment that it is a process acquisition that is reinforced by observation depending on original thought.
7 To have the theoretical knowledge necessary for art history, art theory and art criticism. In the development of works of art; To be able to use support from disciplines such as art tradition, art history, visual culture, art philosophy and art sociology
