Course Objective


The aim of the course play writing 2 is to teach the main principles and technique of play writing. It is to teach and apply the main priciples of daramatic writing which is the base of the texts of action including arts and their scenarios (like Movie -TV, Radio etc.).



Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To compose the main conflict to make a dramatic text,
2   To create a story within this conflict,
3   To built up a protagonist to move the story with all aspects,
4   To shape realtionship, conflict and balance between the protagonist and other characters,
5   create a stage text aware of the actor, the decor, and the total principles of applied stage design,
6   Ability to built the play timing and play spacing,
7   To reflect and observe real life with people, manners, places, relations well.
8   To receive a discussion or an idea out of the narration of the story.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

1. Lectures: The instructor provides information on main characteristics of dramatic text, using the examples. Topics as the conflict, the situation, character, time and place are held.

2. Application: The instructor (either in limited time of a course hour of as a take-home) makes writing practices on building a story and a conflict and the characterisation .

3. Revision, Analyse, Discussion and Second Edition: After works of hte students are read, rest and the instructor criticises according to the principles faults are revealed. During the session basic erors are found, renewed and designed again; plus the students are asked to write the paper again.

Course Policies and Rules

1) It is required to attend %80 of the play writing classes.
2) Every kind of plagiarism, any copied text without decent citation, is reason to disciplinary punishment.
3)Late papers, delivery after the class that was missed might be possible; but they will be evaluated only %50 points. It is significant to finish the class work or study within time given.
4)The course requires a special attention on perfect spelling and rules of the Turkish language usage.
