General Description

History

Dokuz Eylül University, Institute of Social Sciences Department of Business Administration Entrepreneurship Master Program was opened at 25 March 2014. The entrepreneurship education is a topic that is important for development of businesses by improvement of healthful business models and management of the developed businesses at a qualified and corporate structure. From this perspective, Entrepreneurship Master Program which is planned to be opened under Dokuz Eylül University, Institute of Social Sciences Department of Business Administration is thought to be important in terms of creation of entrepreneurial and innovative culture, gaining essential information that are needed from entrepreneurs by using theoretical and practical applications and researching of problems and opportunities specific to field of entrepreneurship. The language of programme is Turkish.

Specific Admission Requirements

First Cycle Degree in the same or in related disciplines, Transcript, Acceptable score on ALES (Academic Personnel and Graduate Education Entrance Exam) or Equivalent GRE, GMAT score. Acceptable score on Language Proficiency Tests. Acceptable weighted score based on the first cycle cumulative grade point average (GPA) and ALES score. The exceptions to the requirements of ALES and Foreign Language Proficiency scores is announced by the Graduate School. However, ALES requirement is waived for the admissions to the second cycle graduate programs offered by the Conservatory and the departments of Fine Arts Faculty, where students are admitted only by the Artistic Aptitude Test as well as for the graduates of doctorate /arts proficiency/medical residency/ dental residency/ veterinary residency/ pharmaceutical residency programs. Final admission is based on the evaluation of the related academic unit committee. International student admission requirements are decided by the Graduate School Executive Committee.

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

Transfer Students:
The transfer student candidates from Turkish or foreign universities are subject to the YOK Legislation "The transfer, double degree, minor degree and inter-institutional credit transfer" and to the evaluation conditions determined by Dokuz Eylul University Senate.
The transfer quotas are determined and announced by Turkish Higher Education Council (YOK). The evaluation of the candidates are done by the school evaluation commmisin and approved by the management

The Graduate Transfers:
The short cycle graduates are given the right to be admitted to the first cycle programs if they comply with the conditions set by the "The transfer of Short Cycle Program Graduates to First Cycle Programs" Legilation of Turkish Higher Education Council (YOK)
The universities inform YOK regarding the quotas and YOK announces the quotas and conditions in "Graduate Transfer Guide" and the placements are managed by YOK due to the results of nationwide graduate transfer exam.

According to the Regulations of Dokuz Eylül University for Graduate Schools, students are not connected to the right for internal transfer, previously taken courses at another graduate programme by another university with a successful grade may be
recognized by the related programmes after the letter of the students includes course contents and the transcript, and by the recommendation of the head of the departments and by the decision of the Board of Directors. The courses taken by the outgoing
Exchange students have the recognition at the school either as compulsory or elective.

2 years, 2 semesters per year, 16 weeks per semester, 120 ECTS in total.

Profile of the Programme

The aim of the program is to provide information to the managers and entrepreneurs of future on the topics of new idea development, preparation of business plan, business start - up, growth of business. Due to the multiple disciplined nature of the program, the program will be carried out by cooperation with the programs of Production and Industrial Business Management, Marketing, Accounting, Finance, Management and Organization, International Business, Hospital and Health Care Management and Management Sciences that are carried out at Dokuz Eylül University Institute of Social Sciences Department of Business Administration. In Dokuz Eylül University, Institute of Social Sciences Department of Business Administration Entrepreneurship Master Program there remains lecturers and research assistants from different departments. The language of courses offered in program is Turkish.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples

The students graduated from that program will adopt the innovative approach which is the most distinctive feature of entrepreneurship, create business plans, have knowledge on management, finance, marketing, production and law and have the ability of converting business opportunities to practice. Also, those have the chance to be research assistant and lecturer at different departments in universities.

Course Structure Diagram with Credits

All courses in Entrepreneurship master program are compulsory. Students who are successfully done courses have to conduct and achieve a project. If necessary, prerequisite courses can be taken from undergraduate. There is no internship possibility. First term courses are related with theoretical introduction to and principles of the area. Graduation Requirements

Second Cycle (Master's Degree) Program with thesis is comprised of courses (at least 52 ECTS), a seminar (4 ECTS) and field study (4 ECTS) and thesis (60 ECTS), in total 120 ECTS credits. Students must have minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.50/4.00 and completed all the courses with at least CB/ S / TP grades.
