General Description

History

Construction installation technology program started in educational activities in 1993 1994. It is a 2year program consisting of four semesters of 14 weeks. In twoyear period, theoretical lectures, workshops applications and industrybased training are provided. Program is prepared to teach students the basic concepts of installation space and to development of hand skills in industrial applications.

Duties of construction installation technician are installation of waste water, clean water, fire equipment and natural gas and undertaking breakdownmaintenance of the installations.

What is more, they can install local or central heating systems fuelling fossil or renewable energy sources. In this respect, Construction Installation Program aims to educate the students who have extensive knowledge on the basic principles, advanced technology with the ability to use and control of devices intended.

Vocational high school diploma or high school diploma, placement through a nation-wide Student Selection Examination.

Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

Transfer Students:
The transfer student candidates from Turkish or foreign universities are subject to the YOK Legislation The transfer, double degree, minor degree and inter institutional credit transfer and to the evaluation conditions determined by Dokuz Eylul University Senate.
The transfer quotas are determined and announced by Turkish Higher Education Council (YOK). The evaluation of the candidates are done by the school evaluation commmisin and approved by the management.

The Graduate Transfers:
The short cycle graduates are given the right to be admitted to the first cycle programs if they comply with the conditions set by the The transfer of Short Cycle Program Graduates to First Cycle Programs Legilation of Turkish Higher Education Council (YOK) .
The universities inform YOK regarding the quotas and YOK announces the quotas and conditions in Graduate Transfer Guide and the placements are managed by YOK due to the results of nationwide graduate transfer exam.

According to the Regulations of Dokuz Eylül University for Graduate Schools, students are not connected to the right for internal transfer, previously taken courses at another graduate programme by another university with a successful grade may be recognized by the related programmes after the letter of the students includes course contents and the transcript, and by the recommendation of the head of the departments and by the decision of the Board of Directors. The courses taken by the outgoing.

Exchange students have the recognition at the school either as compulsory or elective.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

The student must complete 2 years of study acquiring 120 (ECTS) credits. This degree is awarded to students who have successfully completed all courses in the curriculum, compulsory 40 days of internship and have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.00/4.00 and no failing grades.

Profile of the Programme

While, the basic installation information and industrybased theoretical lectures are given in classrooms of vocational school, the application lectures are carried out in workshops of the program. Students in the second year, 8 weeks (40 working dayscompulsory) courses during the application and complete the internship based on their industry. Construction Installation.

Technology program presents formal education and Turkish education. Total of 104 students are in education and training as 52 students are in the first grade and second grade 52 students. There are one Associate Professor, one Dr. lecturer, one lecture in this program. Also, two workshops are used by Construction Installation Technology program in Izmir Vocational School. The basic plumbing tools assembly applications are done in these workshops. In addition, businesses get to know the students are provided with the technical visits.

Key Learning Outcomes

1   Knows the basic principles in the field of mathematics and physics.
2   Uses oxy-acetylene and electric arc welding.
3   Makes piping work, installing plastic and steel pipes, clean water supply, drainage, fire pipe supply.
4   Makes projection, creating views, sectioning applications using technical drawing.
5   Installs solar water heating system.
6   Prepares projects of apartment heating and central heating system.
7   Makes gas piping work at buildings.
8   Draws piping projects with a computer aided design program related about profession field.
9   Makes maintenance and repairs related with plumbing, heating system and gas installation.
10   Has awareness of necessity to lifelong learning, willingness to following developments in technology, self-improvement continuously.
11   Has the ability of effectively explaining thoughts by the way of written and verbal communication in the field of professional topics using basic knowledge.
12   Has enough knowledge about the issues work and work safety, the safety of the working environment, quality management and its processes, environmental protection.
13   Has the ability of accessing information, exploring resources and using of information resources
14   Has the ability of following the technological developments in the field of profession using a foreign language.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates with Examples

Graduate students can work in the construction industry, building installation group stages of the project and commitment. Spreading of the natural gas in many parts of the country, such as buildings and using in industrial has made up a very wide business field for installations technicians. In parallel, they can work the central and local heating systems installation, maintenance and repair areas. Also, the department students are trained staff for the renewable energy sector developing in our country.

Access to Further Studies

According to the "Regulation on the Continuation of Undergraduate Education for Open Education Associate Degree Programs and Vocational Schools Graduates", the Vocational School Graduates, who wish to continue to the Undergraduate Degree, may register to the relevant departments by entering and succeeding the Vertical Transfer Examination (DGS).
Graduated students may apply to bachelors programmes in related fields of study such as the Faculty of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering and Energy Systems Engineering. In addition, they have a choice to apply to bachelors degree completion programmes in related fields of study such as Economics and Business Administration Departments of the Open Education Faculty in Distance Education System.
