Specific Admission Requirements

To have a Bachelor's Degree or to be in the last year / semester of undergraduate education,
In order to apply for a master's programme, candidates must have a bachelor's degree or be in the last year / semester of their undergraduate education, have an ALES score of 55 from the score type of the programme applied for, or an equivalent score determined by the Senate from GRE or GMAT exams.
It is compulsory to get at least 75 score from the Russian language exam accepted by YÖK / an equivalent score from international foreign language Russian exams accepted as equivalent / at least 75 score from the Russian proficiency exam conducted by the Foreign Language School of our University.
Students are evaluated through written and interview exams in Russian. In order for the candidate to be considered successful, he / she must have received at least 65 score out of 100 from these evaluations / evaluations.
Candidates are placed in the programmes they apply for according to the number of quotas, starting from the highest according to the success grades determined by adding 50% of the ALES grade to the sum of 25% of the evaluation grades and 25% of the undergraduate grade point average. For senior students who have not yet graduated at the time of application, the current grade point average is taken as the grade point average of the undergraduate level. In case of equality in the ranking, the candidate with the higher undergraduate grade point average is given priority. As a result of the ranking, starting from the highest score, as many candidates as the quota are entitled to enroll in the programme they apply for (taking into account their priority preference). The same number of reserve candidates are announced. Candidates who have the right to enrol must register between the specified dates. For the vacant quotas, reserve candidates are given the right to register.


Specific Arrangements for Recognition of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

According to the Regulations of Dokuz Eylül University for Graduate Schools, students are not connected to the right for internal transfer, previously taken courses at another graduate programme by another university with a successful grade may be recognized by the related programmes after the letter of the students includes course contents and the transcript, and by the recommendation of the head of the departments and by the decision of the Board of Directors. The courses taken by the outgoing Exchange students have the recognition at the school either as compulsory or elective.

Profile of the Programme

The aim of the Master's Program in Russian Language and Literature is to train field experts who know Russian very well, who can interpret classical, contemporary and current texts written in this language in terms of linguistics and iterary theories, and who can carry out scientific studies in the fields of Russian language, literature and culture.

1   They know the concepts related to the Russian language, literature, culture, history and have the relevant information to implement these concepts.
2   They know the basic skills, rules, techniques and principles in order to realize the Russian language, literature, culture, history, literature, culture and art activities.
3   They have knowledge and skills for planning and evaluation of studies in the field of Russian language, literature, culture, history.
4   They conduct joint studies with other disciplines (culture, history, tourism, international relations, international trade) with which Russian language and literature are in relation, and ensure the planning, execution and evaluation of studies in these fields.

7   They conduct and analyze scientific research in the field of Russian language, literature, culture and history by following ethical rules.
8   They conduct expert-level research and academic publications in the fields of literature and linguistics.
9   They know the differences between Turkish and Russian cultures by having expert knowledge about Russian culture.
10   They know and uses the Russian language at an expert level.

The Master's program in the Department has 120 ECTS and the duration is four semesters. The program consists of compulsory courses, elective courses, and a thesis. Thesis is graded on a pass/fail basis.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

In addition to midterm and final exams, learning activities such as reports, homework, quizzes, seminar presentations and project studies can be used in the semester performance evaluation of the student. In order for the student to be considered successful in the relevant course, this grade must be at least 75 out of 100 (at least 2.50 out of 4.00).

Graduation Requirements

Second Cycle (Master s Degree) Program with thesis is comprised of courses (at least 55 ECTS), a seminar (3 ECTS) and field study (2 ECTS) and thesis (60 ECTS), in total 120 ECTS credits. Students must have minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.50/4.00 and completed all the courses with at least 65 score.
