Course Objective

The objective of this course is to equip prospective special education teachers with the skills to teach mathematical concepts effectively to students with special needs. The course focuses on individualized and functional mathematics instruction through evidence-based practices, assessment techniques, and instructional adaptations.

1   Identifies mathematical development characteristics of students with special needs.
2   Explains the principles of individualized instruction in mathematics.
3   Applies instructional methods in areas such as numbers, operations, measurement, geometry, and problem-solving.
4   Plans and implements concrete, semi-concrete, and abstract teaching stages.
5   Assesses student performance and develops appropriate instructional materials.
6   Develops classroom management and data-based teaching strategies.
