Course Objective

The aim of this course is to provide prospective teachers with knowledge about the developmental characteristics, educational needs, and effective teaching methods for children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Additionally, the course seeks to help students develop sensitivity in this area and gain the competence to prepare individualized education plans (IEPs).

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Explains the definition, causes, and diagnostic processes of autism spectrum disorder.
2   Identifies the developmental characteristics of children with ASD.
3   Explains teaching methods and techniques that can be used in the education of children with ASD.
4   Evaluates behavioral intervention approaches.
5   Prepares an individualized education plan (IEP) for individuals with ASD.
6   Explains the importance of collaboration with families.
7   Develops strategies to enhance social skills of individuals with ASD.
