Course Objective

The aim of this course is to ensure the systematic teaching of basic concepts and skills necessary for the development of cognitive, social, communicative, and motor skills in individuals with special needs. It is intended to help teacher candidates recognize, assess, plan, and implement teaching processes for various types of skills and concepts.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Defines and distinguishes skills and concepts.
2   Identifies basic, social, academic, and self-care skills.
3   Explains teaching strategies used in concept teaching.
4   Conducts skill analysis and creates teaching plans.
5   Applies systematic teaching methods (direct teaching, discrete trial, etc.).
6   Uses generalization, discrimination, and prompt strategies in concept teaching.
7   Evaluates student performance and provides feedback during the teaching process.
8   Develops examples of skill and concept teaching for different disability groups.
