Course Objective

This course aims to introduce the language and communication development characteristics of individuals with special needs and to provide students with methods, techniques, and materials for teaching reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills. The course focuses on enabling students to plan and implement individualized instruction, evaluate language development, and develop strategies to address language-related challenges.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Describe the language development characteristics of individuals with special needs.
2   Explain the importance and goals of Turkish language instruction in special education.
3   Plan the teaching processes of reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills.
4   Develop teaching strategies suitable for difficulties in language and communication.
5   Design and use effective teaching materials.
6   Apply assessment procedures in Turkish instruction.
7   Create individualized teaching plans.
8   Use multisensory and integrative approaches in instruction.
