Course Objective

The aim of this course is to provide students with foundational and applied knowledge about child development from the prenatal period to adolescence. The course focuses on developmental domains (cognitive, language, motor, social-emotional, and self-care), factors affecting development, and developmental risks. It aims to enable prospective special education teachers to distinguish between typical and atypical developmental patterns, recognize developmental delays, and make appropriate educational referrals.

3   Explains developmental assessment processes.
4   Identifies early signs of developmental delays.
5   Analyzes biological and environmental factors affecting development.
