Course Objective

The aim of this course is to equip prospective teachers with fundamental knowledge and skills regarding the developmental characteristics, needs, and education of individuals with intellectual disabilities and autism spectrum disorder (ASD).

1   Explains the history of intellectual disability.
2   Discusses the underlying dynamics that affect the history of study of intellectual disability.
3   Identifies major historical eras associated with certain dominant trends.
4   Applies effective instructional methods and strategies for individuals with intellectual disability and ASD.
