Course Objective

The purpose of the course is to examine research in the field of special education that involves literacy components and related variables across different diagnostic groups and age groups, and to equip students with the ability to plan research on literacy.

Assessment Criteria

Midterm Assignment: Students are required to write an introduction section of at least 1000 words and at most 1500 words on a subtopic of their choice. The text must include at least 15 citations following APA-7 guidelines. The content should incorporate research variables and follow a flow aligned with a specific research proposal.
Final Assignment: As part of the course, all students are expected to present two articles on topics such as reading instruction, reading fluency, reading comprehension, writing instruction, or written expression, taking quality indicators into account. Students must evaluate the quality of the selected articles considering quality indicators and the theoretical framework related to literacy and produce at least three rational/justified critiques.

Course Policies and Rules

Topics will be covered in class and discussion will be opened when necessary. Students will be prepared for the lesson by reading the resources related to the subjects beforehand and will participate in classroom interaction. The students are responsible for preparing and presenting the subjects given to them. Students are obliged to carry out the responsibilities related to the course that can be given to them.
