Course Objective

It will cover theory and current research on how the past finds meaning in social relations, remembering and forgetting, and the principles of the oral history approach.

1   To comprehend the importance of social history and memory studies as a field of research
2   To learn theoretical approaches to social history and memory
3   To be able to analyze social, economic and political dynamics in the writing and presentation of the past
4   To examine social memory within economic, political and everyday worlds of meaning and the construction of social positions
