Course Objective

This course focuses on contemporary drawing practice, providing students with an opportunity to explore how drawing is approached and applied in today's art world. Along with traditional and digital drawing tools, experimental and contemporary approaches are also examined, encouraging students to develop their own artistic practices.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Redefining the boundaries of drawing through contemporary art studies.
2   Gaining awareness of the rediscovery of traditional drawing's importance and appeal with the rise of digital media.
3   Exploring how drawing practice is redefined and applied across a wide range.
4   Examining how drawing is used in relation to installations, performances, and other art forms.
5   Exploring the diversity of boundaries in material usage.

2 From a historical perspective, the role of drawing in the relationship between technology and art/design, and the development of various drawing tools.
3 The 1900s and the transforming language of content and form in art Kinetic forms Focus on process rather than results.
4 1960s New approaches to drawing in the context of performances, interdisciplinarity, and interactivity Action-focused drawing.
5 Drawing production-focused Drawing Machines, Robotic Arms, Coding, and Autonomous creations.
6 New perspectives in drawing in the context of movement, with examples like GPS Art. etc.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

Theoretical foundations will be presented and discussed in various contexts, while students will be encouraged to design pattern projects and develop exhibition methods through examples based on their personal stories.
