Course Objective

The aim of this course is to convey the role of paper as a fundamental and basic art material in the art context, and to present its evolution from traditional to contemporary practices across cultures and time. The goal is to enable students to experience and experiment with applications of paper that push and expand the boundaries of artistic expression commonly used in art, thereby allowing them to engage with the diverse potentials of paper in the artistic realm.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   1. Mastery of the historical development of materials, which serve as a fundamental ground for artistic expression, throughout the history of art.
2   2. Acquisition of knowledge about the evolution of paper usage and creativity in various periods of art disciplines.
3   3. Evaluation of artistic practices through interdisciplinary approaches.
4   4. Ability to engage in creative and boundary-pushing experiences for new expressions.
5   5. Being able to explore the potential of the material in a way that supports his/her artistic language.
