Course Objective

"Newspaper Design" is covered in the publication design. The social and intellectual place of this medium is examined with the students, and the students are expected to develop creative design approaches and achieve a visual integrity with page edits prepared for different needs.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to design typesetting in multi-page documents.
2   To be able to produce visual solutions suitable for an editorial content.
3   To be able to edit an editorial content according to the format of the publication.
4   To learn about the basics of newspaper printing and production techniques.
5   To be able to apply page layouts in Adobe Indesign program.

Assessment Criteria

Evaluation is conducted at the end of the semester in the form of a portfolio presentation to a jury. Students who are absent are not eligible to participate in the final jury. Students are required to submit a complete presentation file on the date and format announced by the department and to attend the presentation on the announced date. Students who fail to attend the presentation will fail the course. A one-time make-up jury session will be held for students who have the excuses specified in Article 32 of the DEU Associate and Undergraduate Education and Examination Regulation. Students who are absent or fail to submit their presentations on time are not eligible to participate in the make-up jury.
