Course Objective

The course was created to prevent frailty in older adults and to provide information about appropriate physiotherapy and rehabilitation programs for the treatment of frail older people.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   1. Define frailty in the elderly. Have knowledge about its frequency, importance and consequences in society.
2   2. Count the phenotypes of frailty, have knowledge about clinical diagnostic criteria and the assessment of the frail elderly.
3   3. Know the effects of frailty on activity and independence levels.
4   4. Know sarcopenia, learn assessment and treatment methods.
5   5. Know the rehabilitation of the frail elderly, know the rehabilitation team, and plan the appropriate physiotherapy program within the team.
6   6. Have knowledge of the current literature on exercise-based approaches and physiotherapy applications in frailty.
