Course Objective

To inform about the basic principles, appropriate methods and application models regarding searching, recognizing, selecting talent and monitoring their development according to sports branches and to plan the long-term development process of the determined talent.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Defining talent according to sports branches, understanding basic indicators and selection and guidance,
2   Explaining search models according to talent according to sports branches,
3   Explaining the stages of selection and guidance according to talent according to sports branches,
4   Defining, applying and evaluating the tests used in searching, selecting and guiding talent according to sports branches,
5   Producing solutions to the problems encountered in searching, selecting and guiding talent.
6   Defining the basic factors in long-term athlete development
7   Understanding long-term athlete development models and stages

2 Basic principles in searching, selecting and directing talent
3 Stages in searching, selecting and directing talent
4 Examination of talent models applied in former Eastern Bloc countries in searching, selecting and directing talent
5 Examination of talent models applied in Western countries in searching, selecting and directing talent
6 Examination of talent models in Turkey and problems encountered in searching, selecting and directing talent and solution suggestions
7 Field and laboratory tests used in searching, selecting and directing talent according to branches; application methods and evaluation of these tests.
