Course Objective

This course focuses on diagnosing the challenges that students with special needs and students who are academically or socially at risk face in the educational process and covers preventive and remedial systems. The course aims to provide teachers and educational professionals with the skills to develop effective prevention, identification and intervention strategies for these students and to implement existing systems and interventions.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Recognizes the risk factors affecting academic and social development and explains the basic elements that affect the academic and social development of students with special needs.
2   Plans and implements school-based diagnostic processes with effective assessment tools and methods.
3   Plan and implement evidence-based interventions and develop data-based decision-making skills.
4   Recognizes holistic support systems and plans these systems for implementation in the school environment.
5   Explain the importance of teacher-student-family collaboration for school-based diagnosis and intervention and develop strategies for effective collaboration.
