Course Objective

The aim of this course is to examine the historical development of language and literature education in Turkey in a second stage. The course aims to address the transformations, reforms and educational policies implemented in language and literature education during the Republican era. Students will analyze how language and literature education has been shaped in social, cultural and political contexts, and what the innovations and challenges in education are. In addition, they are expected to develop an in-depth perspective on educational approaches in different periods and the current state of literature education.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   1. Explains the development of language and literature teaching in Turkey during the Republican period.
2   2. Analyzes the educational reforms of the Republican period and the changes in language and literature teaching.
3   3. Discusses the mutual relationship between Turkish language education and literature education.
4   4. Evaluates institutional developments and changes in language and literature teaching.
5   5. Examines the social and cultural effects of language and literature teaching in Turkey.
6   6. It covers various approaches and teaching methods in education.
7   7. Discusses contemporary approaches and problems in language and literature education in Turkey.
8   8. Evaluates how language and literature teaching affects social structure.
