Course Objective

The aim of this course is to conduct a comprehensive review of the development of contemporary Turkish literature, its main literary movements and important writers. Students will be provided with the opportunity to understand contemporary literary movements in Turkey and other Turkish republics, and to evaluate the reflections of literary movements and social changes in literature. In addition, how modern Turkish literature has been shaped in different geographies and what meaning these literatures have in social, cultural and political contexts will be discussed.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

2   2. Defines contemporary literary movements in Türkiye and other Turkish republics.
3   3. Discusses important writers and works of contemporary Turkish literature.
4   4. Analyzes how literary movements reflect social changes and individual experiences.
5   5. Compares the similarities and differences of contemporary literature in Türkiye and other Turkish geographies.
6   6. Evaluates the aesthetic values and social functions of modern literature.
7   7. Examines how literature has evolved in historical and cultural context.
8   8. Discusses the search for individual and collective identity in contemporary Turkish literature.
