Course Objective

The aim of this course is to examine, both theoretically and practically, the techniques used in the teaching of music theory and solfège; and to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary for planning, conducting, and evaluating instructional processes in areas such as harmonization, dictation, harmonic and formal analysis, as well as the analysis, accompaniment, and reading of solfège pieces. Within the scope of the course, students are expected to become familiar with contemporary approaches to teaching music theory and solfège, to use various instructional methods effectively, and to develop their own instructional designs in light of academic research.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   1. Identify the fundamental techniques used in music theory and solfège teaching.
2   2. Plan and implement instructional processes in harmonization, dictation, harmonic and formal analysis.
3   3. Analyze solfège pieces, develop appropriate accompaniments, and manage solfège reading processes.
4   4. Recognize and interpret contemporary approaches to teaching music theory and solfège.
5   5. Effectively use various instructional methods.
6   6. Develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills in the field of music theory and solfège teaching, in light of academic research.

12 Studies on the implementation and management of two-part dictation processes
13 Studies on the implementation and management of three or four part dictation processes
